VACATION FEVER HITS ROLLING HARBOUR: OUTBREAK OF PICTORIAL HUMOUR

Is humour permissible around here? I think so! With an imminent trip to Abaco and the thought of being out on the Marls this time next week, there’s a jovial atmosphere in the immediate vicinity of my keyboard. So I’m going to unleash some sea creature-based fun from the imaginative JASON ISLEY at SCUBA ZOO  via the enjoyable website SEAMONSTERSCUBAZOO 1 SCUBAZOO 2 SCUBAZOO 3 SCUBAZOO 4 SCUBAZOO 5 SCUBAZOO 6SCUBAZOO 7SCUBA ZOO 9SCUBAZOO 8

  1. We were on MOW yesterday and visited Delphi today. Long time Abaco enthusiasts. Today, we saw some birds that eluded us as, sadly, we didn’t pack our Bahamas bird book, weight being such an annoying issue flying. The turkey vultures were soaring about Delphi. Sandy was sputtering about the fires further south, perhaps set by those trying to flush out the wild boar is it, as I think he claimed? We ventured forth to lunch at Pete’s Pub which was jammed, we suspect their business has gone viral thanks to Winding Bay….they’re running the risk of losing their charm, but Bruce went snorkeling to settle his nerves.

Do you ever get to MH? We r in unit 81 at Regattas or Abaco Towns, a time share my husband has owned for ages, one of the original owners, as a respite for when he used to cruise these shores. He never gave it up. I went to private high school in the Boston area and as circumstances would have it, one of my classmates lives part of the year on MOW.

Your love of Abaco is a joy to us. My sister, Nina Henry, attached herself to Abaco through us and I believe has made contact with you. We have had European cousins visiting and have shared your blog which has peaked their interest and enjoyment of their stay so thanks for all you do. We would love to meet you! Sally Larsen

    • Sally, thanks for your comments – email, even! Yes, I’d heard you’d been to Delphi y/day. Those fires – we were there 2 years ago, when they jumped the Highway and came very close indeed to the Club. Luckily – and as predicted – the coppice stopped them. Same theory as to cause – they were all over South Abaco then. See https://rollingharbour.com/2011/04/15/forest-fires/ It’s amazing how quickly the forest regenerates. We head out to Abaco on Saturday – I think I may be seeing Nina re birds, so maybe we will indeed meet… That would be good. All the best, RH
