Uli Nowlan has had two beautiful swallowtail butterfly species in her garden at Treasure Cay. These are absolute stunners, with great camerawork to capture the details.
What host plant would Tiger Swallowtails (Papilio glaucus) use in Abaco? I know they prefer Black Cherry (Prunus serotina), Sweetbay Magnolia (Magnolia virginiana) and Tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) in the U.S. but none of those grow in Abaco.
Hi Garrett, I’m afraid I have no idea. I’ve never seen one in South Abaco – maybe we aren’t there at the right time of year. We’ll be on the island in 2 weeks – I’ll see if I can find out! RH

Thanks for that, Kamila. Swallowtails can be quite hard to get a clean shot of – they tend to be constantly on the move… RH
