WHITE-CHEEKED PINTAILS and BAHAMA DUCKLINGS

The white-cheeked (‘Bahama’) pintail Anas bahamensis (aka ‘Bahama duck’) is everyone’s favourite dabbling duck. Or at least it ought to be. And when there are ducklings swimming with the adults, there is no emoticon yet devised that will convey the extremes of cuteness achieved.

  1. I really like our Northern Pintails in the U.S. and have never heard of the Bahamas’ White-cheeked pintails, RH. They are very handsome with the bright red bill patch. It is easy to see why they are everyone’s favorite dabbler. The ducklings are adorable with the beginning of the red patch. I agree with you, these photos by Tom Sheley and Charles Skinner are indeed absolutely adorable.
