“ABACO ART” aka SAND & WATER AT CASUARINA…
What is art? *loud reader yawn* I suspect we all know it when we see it; and know instinctively when something violently overpraised and vastly overhyped has failed to shake off a strong impression of ‘utter tosh’, ‘money for old rope’ or ‘one-trick pony’. We all have inbuilt settings for “I may not know much about art but I know what I like” and “a child of 3 could have done that”. It’s just that our individual settings are all different. But secretly (go on, admit it) we all know that ours are the correct and appropriate ones…
With that in mind here are some sandy puddles I photographed on glorious day when we were idly looking for SAND DOLLARS on a sand bar at Casuarina. I don’t suppose they amount to anything, but I’ll soon know from my stats what people think of these abstract patterns. And I have a powerful delete button if this post bombs… If not I see scope here for a line of T-shirts, mugs, key rings stickers and … mouse mats? Does anyone still use those?

Theses are gorgeous! Bravo!

That is so weird – you’ve kindly liked a post from a few months back Cindy, and an hour before I revisited the images to pick a ‘ripple’ one as the endpapers for a book I am just completing. Bizarre coincidence. It must have been the right choice, then. Thanks! RH

Your photos are terrific!! I’ve tried catching the water designs at Gilliam Bay but never with much success. Caught one at Munjack by lying in the water. I’d love to be able to take a photo of the huge sand swirls viewed from the window in the plane flying to Marsh Harbour! Now I am homesick!!

Why thank you! Then they can stay, on that vote! To be honest, I just wandered the sand bar snapping away when I saw promising sand or water patterns. I never thought of lying in the water – that would be cool (in the sun anyway). I agree about close-ups of the Marls from a plane – wonderful, with those intriguing perfect circles. But I suspect one would just get Bahamasair dirty / scratched glass – or the prop… All the best RH

😀 at ‘Aquatextural Modifications part III’!
I like these very much RH, but then I do love the patterns in nature – it’s what a lot of my photos are of.
